any car. Simply put, that is running out of useable power before the end of the 1/4 mile (if we are talking about drag racing). As you put bigger turbos and upgraded cams in your Z, the powerband shifts to the right (ie. you can rev it higher and make useable power, it's not just a matter of revving the engine higher; but revving the engine while still having the car in it's powerband). There is a little math you can apply, that is figure out your projected combo (turbos, cams, headwork, etc.), and look at a similar set up's dyno. See where it runs out of power. Plug the peak RPM into the formula provided on the website and determine your various MPH in different gears (especially 4th) and see your RPM vs. MPH at your projected power level. Try it with the 3.69s and the 4.10s. But one caveat that I emphasize to anyone getting the gears...that is adequate traction for optimal performance. If you can't put the power to the ground, it's useless. However, that doesn't mean you can't turn the boost down on the street with street tires and turn it up at the track with stickies.
